Itinerary

Netherlands

Cycling & sailing

Day 1: Enkhuizen
Embark and check in from 4 p.m. near the charming center of Enkhuizen, conveniently located close to the railway station. Upon boarding, settle into your cabin before joining the skipper for a welcome aperitif. The skipper will provide an overview of your upcoming journey, details about the ship, and important safety instructions. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the historic heart of Enkhuizen, once a bustling hub of the Dutch merchant fleet during the Golden Age. Spend your first night on board, docked along the picturesque western shore of Lake IJsselmeer.

Day 2: Enkhuizen – Medemblik (24 km/14 mi or 40 km/24.8 mi.) | sailing Medemblik – Den Oever – Texel
Begin your adventure with a scenic bike ride along the IJsselmeer coast, passing through the charming polder landscapes on your way to Medemblik. After your cycling tour, the ship will continue sailing to Den Oever. Weather permitting, the journey will take you through the lock and across the Wadden Sea, part of the North Sea, to the island of Texel for an unforgettable evening experience.

Day 3: Texel, roundtrip from/to Oudeschild (40 km/24.8 mi. or 49 km/30 mi.)
Texel, the largest of the Dutch North Sea islands, is a cyclist’s paradise with diverse landscapes, well-marked cycle paths, and charming villages. We recommend a round-trip cycling tour that takes you through picturesque villages, a visit to the seal sanctuary “Ecomare,” and a stop at a traditional beer brewery in Oudeschild.

Day 4: Texel – Terschelling (sailing about 5 – 6 hrs.)
Set sail today for the island of Terschelling, timing your journey with the tides and weather. As you glide through the sandbanks of the Wadden Sea, keep an eye out for seals resting on the sandbars. Enjoy a delicious lunch on board before arriving at Terschelling in the afternoon. This enchanting island boasts picturesque villages nestled between the polder and sand dunes along its 30-kilometer stretch. Tonight, take the opportunity to explore the island’s charm and dine at one of its delightful restaurants (not included).

Day 5: Terschelling roundtrip, (cycling distance of your choice) | sailing Terschelling – Harlingen
After a day of sailing, today is all about cycling on Terschelling, a haven for bike enthusiasts. The island offers 70 km of cycling tracks, four picturesque villages, and a perfect blend of nature and culture. Visit West Terschelling, the largest village, with its charming shops and pubs, and don’t miss the iconic 400-year-old lighthouse, “Brandaris,” visible from afar. Explore the captivating heathland of “Boschplaat,” where mudflats, beaches, and dunes provide a habitat for diverse bird species like spoonbills, black-winged stilts, and great black-backed gulls. After your cycling adventure, relax back on board as the ship sails across the Wadden Sea to Harlingen, Friesland’s key harbor city.

Day 6: Harlingen – Franeker – Makkum (40 km/24.8 mi. or 45 km/28 mi.)
Cycle through the stunning Frisian countryside, passing rural villages on your way to the quaint harbor town of Makkum, located on the eastern shore of Lake IJsselmeer. Along the route, stop in Franeker to visit the renowned Eise Eisinga Planetarium. For those opting for a longer ride, the journey also includes a visit to Bolsward, one of the historic Eleven Frisian Cities.

Day 7: Makkum – Stavoren (28 km/17.3 mi. or 48 km/29.8 mi.) | sailing to Enkhuizen
From Makkum, cycle to Stavoren, choosing between two scenic routes. The shorter option takes you through the historic trading town of Hindeloopen, known for its traditional decorative painting and home to the First Frisian Museum of Ice Skating. The longer route winds along several Frisian lakes, offering a different perspective of the region’s natural beauty. In the late afternoon, the ship will set sail from Stavoren, crossing the IJsselmeer to Enkhuizen.

Day 8: Einkhuizen
End of your bike and sail Wadden Sea tour, you disembark until 9.30 a.m. after breakfast.
